USD 203 is seeking applicants for custodial positions. Starting wage is $12.22/hour, commensurate with experience. Position Description:
The custodian is responsible for providing a safe, clean, comfortable, efficient and attractive environment in which teachers and staff members can work and students can learn, play and successfully develop.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Clean assigned spaces using methods and materials as instructor by supervisor
- Clean assigned spaces according to the time schedule set by supervisor
- Read directions for and properly uses all cleaning chemicals
- Maintain security of all assigned spaces at all times
- Inspect assigned spaces daily and reports all unsafe conditions and/or needed repairs to supervisor
- Set all thermostats according to instructions from supervisor
- Check all fire extinguishers daily and monthly and sign cards as required
- Check exit lights daily
- Informs supervisor concerning supply needs
- Assist in snow removal as assigned
- Maintain grounds around assigned school as instructed by supervisor
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Coordinate performance of assigned tasks with other custodians
- Assist maintenance technicians as instructed by supervisor
Experience Requirements
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented
- Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Ability to push/lift 75 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders
- Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- in high noise levels requiring hearing protection
- Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints
