The Piper District Office is seeking an Benefits and Accounts Specialist beginning July 1, 2024. Interested applicants should complete the online application and include a letter of interest, resume, and three current references (including a current supervisor). Compensation: $60,000 - $65,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Fully paid employee-only health insurance. KPERS-covered position. $40/month 403(b) match.

 

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

 

Terms of Employment: 12-month Contract

 

Job Summary:

The Benefits & Accounts Specialist and HR Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting the human resources department. This position will primarily focus on managing employee benefits, assisting with HR administrative tasks, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of benefits administration, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Benefits Administration:
  • Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary benefits.
  • Coordinate open enrollment processes, including communication, enrollment, and data management.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding benefits, resolving issues, and providing guidance as needed.
  • Work closely with benefit providers to ensure accurate and timely processing of enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Work in conjunction with HR and Business Directors regarding plan renewals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of benefit plan regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Facilitate benefits deductions with the Payroll Specialist.
  • Maintain and grow the existing district wellness program, including the monthly wellness newsletter and wellness events.
  1. HR Support:
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding processes, including job postings, scheduling interviews, and conducting background checks.
  • Manage personnel records and ensure compliance with record-keeping requirements.
  • Support HR staff in maintaining accurate employee data in electronic records software.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform computer-based tasks.
  1. Accounts Receivable:
  • Assist in accounts receivable processes, including billing, invoicing, and receipt of payments.
  • Coordinate with the Business Department to ensure timely and accurate processing of receivables.
  • Prepare bank deposits by compiling and organizing checks and cash.
  • Ensure accuracy in deposit amounts, account numbers and documentation following established procedures.
  1. Communication and Collaboration:
  • Communicate effectively with employees, managers, and external vendors regarding benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other team members to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required. Associates degree or higher preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR support, or finance preferred
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits programs\
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform computer-based tasks.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and telephones.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for occasional file maintenance and office supply handling.
  • Vision and hearing abilities sufficient to perform essential job functions.
  • Mobility to move within the office environment and to attend meetings in various locations within the school district.
  • Stamina to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for special events or projects.
