Description

Piper USD 203 has an opening for a Middle School ESOL teacher for the 26-27 school year. Interested applicants should complete the online application and include a letter of interest, resume, three current reference letters, and a copy of current license or transcripts. Qualifications: Applicants should hold or be eligible for a valid Kansas teaching license with grade-level appropriate ESOL endorsement. Applicant should have at least 5 years experience of teaching with a record of successfully impacting student achievement.

 

Base salary: $50,750 commensurate with experience and education based on the salary schedule in the Piper Teachers Association Negotiated Agreement. Full single health insurance paid. 

 

Job Goal:  To ensure all state requirements for ESOL programs are fulfilled and support teachers in implementing individualized language plans for successful language acquisition.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Work with the district ESOL coordinator to determine which students need the most support.
  2. Collaborate with teachers to provide push-in and/or pull-out support for individual or small groups of students.
  3. Assist teachers with developing appropriate modifications for assignments, tests, and other activities for the ESOL students.
  4. Assist teachers with providing classroom accommodations (per the student’s ILP)
  5. Provide pull-out/small group/read-aloud accommodations (per the student’s ILP) for district and state testing.
  6. Support teachers in writing ILPs (Individualized Language Plans).
  7. Attend state trainings and webinars on updates of ESOL.
  8. Assist with testing for fall and spring, which would include communicating with district administration and teachers to coordinate testing times and dates.
  9. Assist with coordinating translation of written communication from classroom teacher to parents.
  10. Assist with coordinating translations for IEP meetings and Parent-Teacher Conferences.
  11. Advise and coach teachers on best practices for ESOL students.
