Piper Creek Elementary has an opening for a Counselor for the 25-26 school year. Qualifications: Applicants should hold or be eligible for a valid Kansas teaching license with applicable Counseling endorsement. Provisional licenses are acceptable.
Base salary: $50,000+ ($57,320+ for masters degree) commensurate with experience and education based on the salary schedule in the Piper Teachers Association Negotiated Agreement. Full single health insurance paid.
Job Goal: To counsel and support students in a manner that allows the students to develop to the fullest extent possible both educationally and socially.
Essential Job Functions:
- Create and maintain an atmosphere that enhances the counselor/student relationship
- Provide counseling to students both individually and in groups, coordinate individual plans of study for middle school and high school students
- Teach scheduled classes on appropriate subjects/social issues to all students in assigned grades as assigned by administration
- Ensure that subject matter taught is aligned with Kansas standards, benchmarks and indicators
- Meet with and provide support for teachers, administrators and parents as needed
- Attend parent/teacher conferences, Individual Educational Plan meetings, and Student Improvement Team meetings as assigned and appropriate
- Plan and organize special events as assigned by the administration
- Assists in the referral and diagnosis of student with special needs, working with other district personnel as required
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and reinforces these ruled in all student contacts
- Willingly participates in continuing education and district professional development activities in order to improve professional competence
- Attends and participates in faculty and other group meetings
- Observes all policies, rules and regulations of the Board as stated in the policy handbook
- Observes all rules and regulations of the building to which assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned by the administration
