Piper Creek Elementary has an opening for a Counselor for the 25-26 school year. Interested applicants should complete the online application and include a letter of interest, resume, three current reference letters, and a copy of current license or transcripts. Qualifications: Applicants should hold or be eligible for a valid Kansas teaching license with applicable Counseling endorsement. Provisional licenses are acceptable. 

 

Base salary: $50,000+ ($57,320+ for masters degree) commensurate with experience and education based on the salary schedule in the Piper Teachers Association Negotiated Agreement. Full single health insurance paid. 

 

Job Goal: To counsel and support students in a manner that allows the students to develop to the fullest extent possible both educationally and socially.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Create and maintain an atmosphere that enhances the counselor/student relationship
  2. Provide counseling to students both individually and in groups, coordinate individual plans of study for middle school and high school students
  3. Teach scheduled classes on appropriate subjects/social issues to all students in assigned grades as assigned by administration
  4. Ensure that subject matter taught is aligned with Kansas standards, benchmarks and indicators
  5. Meet with and provide support for teachers, administrators and parents as needed
  6. Attend parent/teacher conferences, Individual Educational Plan meetings, and Student Improvement Team meetings as assigned and appropriate
  7. Plan and organize special events as assigned by the administration
  8. Assists in the referral and diagnosis of student with special needs, working with other district personnel as required
  9. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and reinforces these ruled in all student contacts
  10. Willingly participates in continuing education and district professional development activities in order to improve professional competence
  11. Attends and participates in faculty and other group meetings
  12. Observes all policies, rules and regulations of the Board as stated in the policy handbook
  13. Observes all rules and regulations of the building to which assigned
  14. Performs other duties as assigned by the administration
